I first contacted Andy in 2019 when my landlord witheld my security deposit for no reason thinking I had no recourse. Andy helped me recover the security deposit plus some penalties, which covered his legal fees so that I didn't have to pay anything. I got the security deposit back plus some extra money for my trouble. In the years that followed I moved out of Chicago, where Andy practices, and have tried to find other lawyers to help with landlord-tenant issues, but have not been successful. It seems that Andy is one of a kind. So I've kept in touch with him from time to time for advice, and, in fact, I've also used a lawyer he recommended for other issues, not relating to real estate.

Andy was great to work with and helped me right from the start. I had a dispute with my landlord about our security deposit and I knew that they were in the wrong. I found Andy on a search in Google and although I was apprehensive to call a lawyer, he made me feel comfortable and assured me I would not owe him money unless we won the settlement and he was paid from the landlord (Which was a surprise at first, but glad he shared that information). After helping me look through the leasing contract he found multiple things the landlord had done outside of the law. He sent a formal letter to the landlord and ended up winning me my security deposit back. He was super easy to work with, very communicative, and was open for discussion any time I had questions. Andy handled a security deposit case for me and was amazing. My landlord didn’t handle the refund properly and was banking on me to be uninformed. He was wrong. I knew the laws but Andy enforced them to the max and moved us through the process quickly. He was also able to get additional damages paid out in my case. Would highly recommend him.

I was living in Wicker Park and a dispute with my landlord erupted over the conditions of my departure. Startled, I called Brabender Law and asked about options.
